iPhone vs. Cingular 8525

Yesterday at the annual Macworld expo Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone, a slick looking phone that incorporates an iPod and web capabilities.

I’ll be curious to see how the iPhone stacks up against my Cingular 8525. Coincidentally, Apple has reached a deal with Cingular to be the exclusive provider of the phones through 2009.

In the coming weeks it will be interesting to read the reviews and see if it lives up to the hype.

Do you think it’s necessary to combine a phone with an iPod? Do you think the iPhone has practical applications or is it just a really cool new toy? And for the price, would you ditch your 80GB iPod and replace it with the 8GB iPhone?

At the face of it , I do not see any difference between tha features of 8525 and iPhone.

8525 has a slide in keyboard which iPhone will not have.

Just because it is Apple iPhone gets the hype

I also have cingular 8525 (and previously had the older version of it) and I absolutely love it. Perhaps I am buying into the APPLE hype of the iphone, but after watching Mr.Jobs show off iphone, I am considering returning my cingular 8525... what do you recommend?

cingular 8525 doesnt have a lot of memory (unless you buy extra memory), but it still doesnt come close to iphone.

i am a bit worried about iphone's qwerty ability... i like the fact that 8525 has sliding buttons, and Im not sure how sensitive iphone's typing is going to be....

i am so torn between 2 phones.

*sigh*

someone help me

I have the 8525, and there is no way I'm going from a 3G/HSDPA phone down to a 2G/EDGE phone. Why go backwards in technology? Isn't "the new best thing" supposed to advance technology?
