I am a student team member from your flight at the competition and found this website when I was checking for news updates - thank you for your comments, it is very nice to know that our businesses are appreciated!
I was wondering if you know more about what happened in the wildcard round, since the winner that was announced was not Optimal Vision, but Innovis? Were the judges in agreement about Innovis or was this a clerical error? I talked to several student teams that were confused about this, because when we came in on Saturday the board listed Optimal Vision as the winner, but then it was changed again back to Innovis, and I was curious as to what happened, especially after reading your comment that Optimal Vision was the judges' choice.
Thanks again for your remarks, it is always great to get an insider's point of view on how we did!
My remarks about Optimal Vision moving on the Wildcard Round were based upon the notification I received from Rice about the Flight winners and the second place teams.
No scores were made available to the judges as Rice performs all the calculations themselves.
My comments about the judges being in agreement were based upon informal hallway discussions with fellow judges and does not reflect a complete sample or even scientific sample.
I am sorry I did not get your comments until today, my pocket PC was denied access because of password expiration feature. I had to come into the office to reset my password.
I would direct any questions concerning scoring to the folks at Rice. They have all the judges score sheets.
